MEETINGS OF THE BOARD DIRECTORS AND TECHNICAL COMMITTEES ON THE SIDELINES OF THE 44TH ANNUAL PMAWCA COUNCIL: OPTIMIZING HINTERLAND CONNECTIVITY
The 44th Annual Council of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) has been underway since November 18, 2024, in Conakry, Guinea, bringing together experts and key stakeholders in the port and logistics sectors.
A major theme emerged during the discussions: Optimizing Hinterland Connectivity, addressing three crucial challenges: connectivity, trade flow efficiency, and infrastructure reliability. These issues are vital for improving trade exchanges not only among PMAWCA member countries but also with the hinterland regions of West and Central Africa, which form essential links in the logistics chains.
Following the deliberations of the 19th Managing Directors’ Round Table held the previous day, November 20, 2024, was dedicated to the Board of Directors meeting, as well as meetings of the four technical committees and two networks:
- The Administrative and Legal Affairs Committee
- The Finance and Economic Studies Committee
- The Maritime Safety, Environmental Protection, and Operations Committee
- The Technical Studies, Infrastructure, and Development Committee
- The Network of Harbor Masters and PFSO
- The Network of Women Professionals in Maritime and Port Industries
During these meetings, key topics related to shared strategies to overcome connectivity, reliability, and trade flow challenges in hinterland logistics were addressed.
By acting collaboratively, PMAWCA members were given the opportunity to transform current challenges into drivers of growth and sustainable development for West and Central African countries and their hinterlands.
