A DELEGATION FROM THE U.S. GRAINS COUNCIL VISITS THE ABIDJAN PORT
On a mission to Côte d’Ivoire as part of a regional conference, a delegation from the U.S. Grains Council — the organization representing the interests of American grain producers and exporters — visited the Abidjan Port on Monday, June 2, 2025. The delegation was led by Mr. Mohamed RAMI EL HAJ TAIEB, Regional Director for Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.
Welcomed by Mr. ASSI ACHY Magloire, Director of Control, Audit, and Quality, who was representing Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of the Abidjan Port, the delegation was immersed in the port’s activities.
According to the head of the mission, the purpose of the visit was to better understand the port’s operations as well as its logistical and infrastructure strengths. The main interest of the delegation focused on the new grain terminal, which has been in operation since May 30, 2023.
Covering 9 hectares of land and equipped with 1,010 linear meters of quay and a draft of 14 meters, this terminal enables the port to accommodate vessels transporting up to 70,000 tons of cargo. The facility now positions the Abidjan Port as a key player in the cereal supply chain, serving both Côte d’Ivoire and the wider West African sub-region.
