MARITIME COOPERATION: CALL OF THE OFFSHORE PATROL VESSEL “EV JACOUBET” AT THE PORT OF ABIDJAN
The Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) welcomed, on Monday, May 4, 2026, a delegation led by Commander Octave Le Piert, Commanding Officer of the offshore patrol vessel EV Jacoubet, and Mr. Damien Mireval, Defence Attaché at the Embassy of France in Côte d’Ivoire, as part of the vessel’s call at the Port of Abidjan.
On their arrival in Côte d’Ivoire on Saturday, May 2, 2026, the members of the delegation were received by the Abidjan Port’s Harbour Master, Colonel COFFI Yao Emmanuel, in the presence of the Commercial, Marketing and Communication Director, Dr. Titi PALÉ épouse KOUMAN, the Director of Engineering and Project Management, Mr. MONI N’Guessan Hyacinthe, as well as Lieutenant-Colonel Alfred LATH and Colonel Franck AKAHI.
During the discussions, the French delegation commended the quality of the reception arrangements as well as the level of logistical and technical support provided to the vessel. The exchanges also highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation in maritime security in the Gulf of Guinea, particularly in combating illegal fishing and maritime security threats.
Both parties also discussed the preparation of a joint exercise aimed at enhancing the protection of Ivorian oil platforms, against a regional background characterized by growing security challenges.
This call forms part of a dynamic of operational cooperation aimed at strengthening maritime security and safeguarding the strategic economic interests of the sub-region. The patrol vessel’s mission will continue with a surveillance patrol along the coastline.
