COOPERATION BETWEEN ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY AND HAMBURG PORT AUTHORITY

On March 10th, 2022 a videoconferencing session took place between Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority and Mr. Jens MEIER, Managing Director of Hamburg Port Authority (Germany) also acting Vice-Chairman of IAPH (International Association of Ports and Harbors) for the African Region and Vice -Chairman for the Europe Region.

The session dealt with various issues of common interest.

During the exchange, the two executives discussed about important topics for IAPH for the coming two years and they also considered a possible cooperation between Abidjan Port Authority and Hamburg Port Authority.

They, discussed on Climate and Energy, data exchange in order to facilitate cooperation; issues such as risks and resilience were also dealt with. For the IAPH Vice Chairman, it was a question of inquiring into the effects of climate change on Abidjan Port.

Lastly, both Port Authorities agreed on extending cooperation between the two Ports to new areas such as environment and training.

The International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH) was established in 1955, with its Headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. It is a recognized NGO for Ports around the world.
