THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY INSTRUCTS ITS STAFF ON THE EVILS OF DRUG ABUSE

 Effects and Harms of Drugs in the Workplace was the theme of a conference held at the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) on Thursday 5 May 2022.

Organized by the Human Resources Direction, in collaboration with the Blue Cross Côte d’Ivoire, this exchange meeting aimed at sensitizing the company's staff on the evils of drugs in the workplace as well as in the family environment.

At the opening of this conference, Mrs. DUNCAN Monique married BIDIA, Deputy Director, representing the Director of Human Resources, pointed that the theme being a topical issue, it was important for the Top Management of the PAA to educate the staff to contribute to the eradication of this scourge that undermines Ivorian society.

The speaker, Dr Bernard Zéhoua DJÉ BI, Chief Doctor and Director of Operations of the Blue Cross Côte d'Ivoire, highlighted the various causes that can lead to drug addiction. He cited, among others, the family environment, professional life, relationships, and other facts such as stress, but also the search for personal glory. He also said that in the professional context, the most vulnerable groups are generally the low-grade employees, the people performing heavy physical labor, the machinists, the watchmen, the isolated posts...

The speaker also urged the Top Management of the PAA to carry out regular tests for early detection of cases of drug addiction in the company for rapid treatment. In conclusion, he urged the audience to stay away from all drugs, harmful substances, which could endanger their health and social security.
