THE SPANISH PATROL BOAT, THE "SERVIOLA", CALLS AT THE ABIDJAN PORT

The Ambassador of Spain in Côte d'Ivoire, HEM. Rafael SORIANO ORTIZ, was received on Monday 16 May 2022, by the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ. The purpose of the diplomat's visit was to present the Spanish patrol boat, the "SERVIOLA", and its crew led by Lieutenant-Commander Joaquin PITA DA VEIGA SUBIRATS, the ship's commander.

On call at the Abidjan Port until Sunday 22 May 2022, the presence of this patrol boat comes within the framework of the military cooperation between Côte d'Ivoire and the Kingdom of Spain through the strengthening of bilateral relations between the national navies of the two States.

This second tour of the "SERVIOLA" in the Gulf of Guinea, after the previous one in 2019, aims to improve the military capabilities of the coastal countries, mainly through dialogue and cooperation, based on mutual trust.

HEM. Rafael SORIANO ORTIZ took leave of the Port Authority, stressing that his country makes security in the Gulf of Guinea a priority in the fight against piracy at sea. Mr. Hien SIÉ welcomed and encouraged this by affirming the total availability of the Abidjan Port Authority to work, whenever necessary, to facilitate this military cooperation.
