MRS ANNE DESIREE OULOTO GAVE THE STARING SIGNAL ON QUAY.1 AT THE ABIDJAN PORT FOR THE COLLECTION OF TRANSFORMERS-EQUIPMENT AND PCB CONTAMINED OILS

Mrs. Anne Desirée OULOTO Ministry of Salubrity, Environment, and Sustainable Development gave, on Monday 30th October 2017 on Quay 1 at the Abidjan Port, the staring signal for the collection of transformers, equipment and polychlorobiphenyles (PCB) contaminated oils. The ceremony was aimed at collecting 248 tons of PCB for Côte d’Ivoire and marked the opening of a campaign for the final collection of the contaminated products by the year 2028 as requested by parties conference through the Stockholm Convention (Sweden) ratified by Côte d’Ivoire on 20th January 2004.These dangerous and carcinogenic wastes would be loaded on a specialized ship so as to be destroyed far from Côte d’Ivoire

The important ceremony took place in the presence of Messrs Hien Yacouba SIE, Kakou Dominique and Cesar AKA-KIE, Managing Directors of Abidjan Port Authority, of CIE, and of ENVIPUR respectively, as well as the Director of the Regional Convention Center of Basle (Switzerland) and Stockholm (Sweden) for the African French speaking countries (CRCBS-AF) and Mr. Michel SECK.

It is worth recalling that it was in 2011 that Côte d’Ivoire joined the PCB regional project with a View to protecting the health and environment, and indirectly protect its people.
