A SHIP 269 METRE LONG AT BERTH IN ABIDJAN PORT

A containership 269.70 m long and 32.2 m wide carrying over 2000 containers, berthed on Wednesday 24 May 2017 on quay #22/23 at the Abidjan Port’s Container Terminal .The ship named SAMBHAR belongs to CMA-CGM Shipping Company. On 25 May 2017 Mr. Adama KONE, Minister for Transport came to tour  the ship which is the first exceeding 250 m in length to sail into Vridi Canal.

This achievement was made possible thanks to the widening and deepening works of the Canal in progress, which would enable the Abidjan Port to receive big ships with draught up to 16 m.

The Minister was accompanied during his visit by Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority and Mr. RUDY Thomas Deputy Managing Director of CMA-CGM Côte d’Ivoire
