A MISSION OF THE NETHERLANDS IN PROSPECTION IN ABIDJAN PORT
On 03 October 2022, a delegation of the Netherlands led by Mr Mark HOOLWERF, Managing Director of Amsterdam Port International came to Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) as part of a commercial mission in the field of maritime and port sector and logistics.The delegation was accompanied by Her Excellency Mrs Yvette Daoud Ambassador of Holland to Cote d’Ivoire.
Mr Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority, assisted by his close collaborators received the members of the delegation with whom they discussed about the opportunities offered by Abidjan Port and which could be of interest to Dutch investors.
To this end, Mr Hien SIÉ indicated that with the modernization works which are near completion, the Port Authority henceforth, will focus on the upgrading of the operating facilities of Abidjan Port in order to increase the traffics
to that extent, solutions are to be found to relieve congestion in the Port area and make Abidjan City more free flowing.
In relation to that issue, Mr SIÉ announced a transportation service by barge in Abidjan Port. The Port Authority builds on this project to provide sustainable solutions to these problems.
Moreover, he encouraged his guests to have an interest in other projects such as the invitation to tender launched recently by Abidjan Port Authority as part of dredging works to maintain a suitable level of draught in the Vridi Canal, and also along the different terminals at Abidjan Port.
Before concluding, Mr Hien SIÉ made the promotion of public-private partnership, through the strong back up of the Ivoirian State which took a series of measures to protect private investments and ensure their profitability.
Lastly, he urged the Dutch: businessmen to boost their presence in Abidjan Port and in Cote d’Ivoire which is a Country in full economic development, open to investors willing to provide assistance.
The meeting ended with a tour of Port facilities with an emphasis on the second container Terminal (TC2).
