TWO CAMEROONIAN NAVY PATROL BOATS CALL AT THE ABIDJAN PORT
Two warships of the Cameroonian Navy, CNS SANAGA and CNS NTEM, docked at the Abidjan Port on Thursday 6 October 2022, as part of a technical stopover.
The crew members of these patrol vessels, headed by the Commander Théophile NKOUONCHOU, were received this Friday 7 October 2022, by Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority.
During this audience, the head of the Cameroonian delegation explained that this technical stopover in Abidjan comes after a mission of the Task Group called "Sea lions on the move Brazil 2022" whose objective was to cross the Atlantic to Brazil.
He said he wanted to take the opportunity of this stopover to present the courtesies to the Abidjan Port Authority and thank it for the assistance and facilities that Cameroonian ships have enjoyed during their various passages.
Note that this is the second stopover, after that of 15 to 17August.
Commander Théophile NKOUONCHOU also indicated that the presence of his ships in Côte d'Ivoire is also justified by the participation in a large-scale maritime security exercise in the Gulf of Guinea, in collaboration with the U.S., South African and Brazilian navies.
In his speech, the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority welcomed the commitment and cooperation between the navies of different countries in the context of security in the Gulf of Guinea, which he hopes to strengthen. It should be noted that in recent years, this vast water area off the coast of West Africa is the scene of many acts of maritime piracy that affect the competitiveness of ports in the sub region.
In Brazil, the Cameroonian Navy participated in the festivities marking the bicentenary of the independence of this country.
