GRADUATION CEREMONY OF THE 5th CLASS OF EXPERTS ENGINEERS IN GENDER STUDIES OF THE UNESCO CHAIR ; MR HIEN YACOUBA SIE SPONSOR OF THE CLASS APPEALED TO HIS SPONSEES TO PUT GENDER AT THE HEART OF THEIR ACTIVITIES.
On Saturday 10 December 2022, the graduation Ceremony of the 5th class of Expert Engineers in Gender Studies of UNESCO took place at the auditorium of Institut Français d’Abidjan-plateau.
The 5th class was referred to as ‘’ promotion Hien Yacouba SIE ‘’ by the name of the sponsor, the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority.
The ceremony rich in colours, sounds and emotion was presided over by Mrs Euphrasie KOUASSI YAO Minister, Founder and co-chair of the UNESCO chair ‘’Eau, Femmes et Pouvoir de Décision’’ in charge of skills training, of Development Activities, and Gender, and was also attended by Dr Titi PALE, Director in charge of Marketing and communication representing the sponsor.
The ceremony consisted in a rite of passage from the learner’s, free listener’s status to that of Expert in Gender Studies, evidenced by a Diploma of Completion training, thus confirming their qualification to deal with any subject pertaining to gender.
In his introductory address Pr. Alexis TCHIAKPE General Administrator of the EFPD UNESCO chair described the historical background of the creation of the Chair and of the different classes, and justified the identification of the themes for the learners of the 5th outgoing class after 9 months of online and classroom training
Moreover, he urged the participants present at the ceremony to register for future training because, as he pointed out, gender issue has become essential and indispensable in the human and professional development
Then Mr Omar DIOP representing the Head of UNESCO Office in Abidjan expressed his appreciation of Minister Euphrasie YAO’s initiative, which over the years, has arisen a growing interest among the learners He therefore, reaffirmed his unwavering support to the co-holder of the EFPDD UNESCO chair for the challenges ahead
As to Dr. Titi PALE representing the sponsor, she thanked the learners, the organizers and the chairman of the ceremony for having chosen Mr Hien Yacouba SIE as the sponsor of this celebration of excellence.
On behalf of the sponsor, she extended words of encouragement to the sponsees in order for them to be the reference in terms of excellence, and work and asked them to be the gender ambassadors by always putting gender at the heart of their duties and activities.
Minister Euphrasie KOUASSI YAO co-holder of EFPDD UNESCO chair also congratulated all the partners that have their corporate image associated with this celebration of excellence and particularity the sponsor, Mr Hien Yacouba SIE for his kind concern and responsiveness.
After some advice to the recipients including Myss Belmonde DOGO, Minister of solidarity, Fight against Poverty in Côte D’Ivoire, learner of this 5th class, Minister Euphrasie KOUASSI YAO strongly urged the corporate executive partners attending the event to help open doors to new graduates in gender studies so as to enable then to propose action plans which take notice of gender issues in the development.
