THE MINISTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND FRANCOPHONIE OF QUEBEC VISITS ABIDJAN PORT

Staying in Côte d'Ivoire within the framework of a mission, Mrs Martine BIRON, Minister of International Relations and Francophonie of Quebec, visited the port facilities of Abidjan on Friday 27 January 2022.

She led a delegation composed of Mrs. Marie Ève Jean, Vice President of Exports at Investissement Québec International, and Mrs. Hélène Drainville, Deputy Minister of Relations, Francophonie and Multilateral Affairs of the Ministry of International Relations and Francophonie of Québec.

After the welcome address by the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, through which he expressed his joy at receiving the Quebec delegation, Mr. MONNY Hyacinthe, Deputy Director of the Engineering and Project Management Department of Works, presented the Abidjan Port through its activities and facilities. Mr. MONNY also highlighted the important investments made in the port and more particularly the major modernization projects underway as well as the prospects.

All these explanations were followed by the minister with particular interest. "We need development. Côte d'Ivoire has an Investment Code which favours the installation of private individuals and secures investment in Côte d'Ivoire. We have a functioning port which is available to operators who would like to work in Côte d'Ivoire. Côte d'Ivoire is open to everyone and the Abidjan Port is waiting for you," said Mr. SIÉ, inviting Quebec to invest more in Côte d'Ivoire.

After these words, the Managing Director of PAA invited the delegation to a guided tour of the port facilities, mainly the second container terminal, the flagship of the Abidjan Port, which was inaugurated on 02 December by the Vice-President of the Republic, HEM. Tiémoko Meyliet KONE.
