SIGNING OF THE MINUTES OF THE OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE SECOND CONTAINER TERMINAL OF THE ABIDJAN PORT

The Top Management of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) hosted on Thursday 9 February 2023, the signing ceremony of the minutes of the official putting into service of the second container terminal (TC2) of the Abidjan Port. The signing of the minutes took place between the PAA represented by its Managing Director, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ and the concessionaire Côte d'Ivoire Terminal (CIT), represented by its first manager, Mr. Koen DE BEKKER, in the presence of the AXELCIUM group, the consultancy firm in charge of the TC2 concession. Satisfied with this new step which marks the effective operation of the new container terminal commissioned on 2 December 2022, the Managing Director of PAA welcomed the completion of this major project which will enable the Abidjan Port to increase its competitiveness and position itself as an essential hub on the Atlantic coast of Africa.

The two parties have committed themselves to work together for an efficient and effective management of the new port infrastructure.

The second container terminal, built with an overall investment of 596 billion CFA francs, will strengthen the attractiveness of the Abidjan Port. Built on an area of 37.5 hectares, this structure is capable of handling more than 1.5 million TEU containers per year and berth ships with a draught of 16 m along its 1,100 m of quays.

As a reminder, the second container terminal of the Abidjan Port was inaugurated on 02 December 2022 by the Vice-President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, HEM. Tiémoko Meyliet KONE.
