EXCHANGE BETWEEN CMDT AND THE PORT AUTHORITY

MR Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director, Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) granted an audience , on Wednesday 30 November 2016, to a Malian delegation led by Mr. BERTE Baba , CEO, CMDT ( the Malian company for Textile Development). This working visit was aimed at reasserting the willingness of CMDT to strengthen its cooperation with Abidjan Port, its “natural port” The discussions put on emphasis on the major concerns of Malian’s economic operators, namely the institution of the Terminal Handling Charge (THC), the implementation of ISPS additional tax, port congestion, the unavailability of car parks and also the Verified Gross Mass (VGM). Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE took due note of these concerns and said that he was aware of the importance of Malian’s cotton in the Abidjan port’s transit traffic, and assured his partners on the actions undertaken by the State of Cote d’Ivoire and PAA to resolve those difficulties. We are in a transitional period with many ongoing development projects and this results in some problems. By to 2018 we would somehow land on our feet, so as to enable us to offer better working conditions to you in the Abidjan port in the future.
