THE NETWORK FOR MARITIME AND PORT WOMEN PROFESSIONALS TOURED THE PORT FACILITIES
The Network for Maritime and Port Women Professionals -Côte d’Ivoire section – toured the facilities of Abidjan Port on Wednesday 29th March 2023 in order to get acquainted with the ambitious infrastructural projects implemented in Abidjan Port.
The visit was initiated by the new Chairwoman, Dr Titi PALE, Commercial, Marketing and Communication Director in Abidjan Port Authority.
On the fringe of the visit, which is the first activity of her mandate, The Chairwoman had discussion with the members of the network.
In her address, Dr Titi PALE renewed her commitment and willingness to revitalize the network in order to give a fresh impetus to it.
She, then invited all the members to take more interest in their professions, to work together so as to hoist and give voice to the Maritime and Port Women Professionals Network.
First of all, the delegation visited the site of the new Grain Terminal which will be inaugurated shortly. The Terminal is built on 9.5 HA of open storage area with 3berths stretching over 956 meter quay. It will enable Abidjan Port to accommodate vessels that can transport as much as 40 000 and 50 000 tons of bulk foods as against 30 000 tons presently
The women of the network also visited the mole of the Fishing Terminal in operation since 2015 before heading to the second Container Terminal (TC2), a flagship of Abidjan Port inaugurated in December 2002.
TC2 which can handle 1.5 million TEUs enables Abidjan Port to reach a reception capacity of 2.5 million TEUs. It is labelled “Green Terminal owing to the use of handling equipment operated by electricity”.
