WECAPS PROJECTS: ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY CONGRATULATED FOR ITS HIGH LEVEL OF SAFETY AND SECURITY

The WECAPS Project came to an end after four years of implementation in Abidjan Port. A review meeting was held to that extent on 06th April 2023, at the Headquarters of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA)in the presence of Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE and the major stakeholders of the project, led by Mrs. Anne Catherine Claude Head of Cooperation in the European Union.

The review revealed the major actions that have significantly contributed to the capacity building of the ports in the West African subregion with regard to safety and security.

In this respect, Abidjan Port has been congratulated for the actions taken to reach the present level of security and safety in compliance with the international requirements. “Abidjan Port remains a model for the West and Central African ports in terms of safety and security”, Mr. Nico VERTOGEN, WECAPS Team Leader revealed, and seized the opportunity to urge the Abidjan Port Authority to maintain and reinforce the achievements in order to improve the ports competitiveness.

The Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority while being delighted about the satisfactory achievements of the WECAPS project at the Abidjan Port, extended his warm thanks to the European Union, to Expertise France, and the whole team of the project in Côte d’Ivoire.

WECAPS Project which is funded by the European Union, aims at enhancing security and safety in ports in West and Central Africa.
