ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY RENEWS ITS SUPPORT FOR THE MISS MATHEMATICS COMPETITION OF COTE D’IVOIRE

As a prelude to the 2023 edition of the “Miss Mathematics” Competition, Professor Saliou TOURE, President of the Côte d’Ivoire Mathematics Society (SMCI) paid a courtesy call to Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE , Managing Director of PAA on 19th April 2023.

The meeting was the opportunity for Professor Saliou TOURE to present his compliments to the Port Authority, but also to express his thank for the support of the Port Authority to the competition through five years of sponsorship which came into force since 2022.

Moreover, he expressed his gratitude to Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE for this personal commitment in the funding research for the conduct of activities of the various SMCI committees.

The Top Manager of PAA who was honoured by the visit and mark of special appreciation, reiterated to his guest, his commitment to work for the promotion of science and particularly for mathematics among Ivorian young girls.

According to him, training in science is a major vector of development of nations and an excellent field of gender affirmation, which young girls should take advantage of, in order to claim their place in the Ivorian society. This is the reason why he did not hesitate to commit PAA, as a corporate citizen, to support the competition, which for years now, has enabled to identify skills which make Côte d’Ivoire proud.

Note that the official launching ceremony of the 2023 edition will take place on 27 April and the examination session will take place on 27 May. The winners will be known and rewarded in July.

The 2022-2023 school year will see the 17th edition of “Miss Mathematics” competition of Côte d’Ivoire which was launched since the year 2000.
