A DELEGATION FROM THE BOAD VISITS THE PAA

A delegation of the West African Development Bank (BOAD) led by Mrs. Valérie Noëlle KODJO DIOP, Director of Innovation and Sustainable Development visited the Abidjan Port Authority on Wednesday 26 April 2023.

This visit is part of the updating of the RSE (Corporate Social Responsibility) priorities of this bank to meet not only the expectations of its stakeholders including the Abidjan Port Authority but also ensure its economic performance.

Mrs. KODJO DIOP indicated that the exchanges will help refine the RSE strategy of the BOAD, given that the challenges of stakeholders may evolve according to several factors, including time, regulatory changes, expectations of stakeholders, emerging risks, societal developments.

The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, welcomed this approach and indicated that sustainable development is a subject of general interest, mentioning that the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has issued guidelines on the subject and that the Abidjan Port Authority has been committed for several years to respecting environmental and societal standards.

All projects carried out at the Abidjan Port, said Mr. SIÉ, are done taking into account environmental standards to protect the population, their ecosystems and their living environment.

These environmental standards, he also mentioned, are previously validated by structures set up by the State of Côte d'Ivoire, including the Ivorian Anti-Pollution Center (CIAPOL) and the National Environment Agency (ANDE).

Let us recall that the Abidjan Port Authority has been certified to the environmental standard ISO 14001/2015 since 2018.
