"Geointelligence and Territorial Governance: What Contribution of Geoinformation Solutions to the Management of African Municipalities for a Sustainable Development? "

It is on this theme that opened this 27 April 2023, the 6th edition of the International Exhibition of Geomatics at the Sofitel Hotel Ivoire of Abidjan Cocody, in the presence of the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, spokesman of the government and sponsor of this event, Mr. Amadou COULIBALY.

Organized by the National Committee of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information (CNTIG), this exhibition is a platform for exchange and sharing of experiences that highlights the geo-information in the digital transformation of the national economy. It brings together, every two years, public authorities, national mapping agencies, the private sector, international organizations, academia, and especially end users of geospatial services. Its objective is to highlight the contribution of geoinformation in the development of nations, through a set of methods, organizational modes, techniques and crisis management.

The Abidjan Port Authority, which is strongly committed to the digital transformation of its activities for a sustainable development, is present at this exhibition as a partner.

Dr. Edouard FONH-GBEI, Director General of CNTIG, stressed that the global development of the State and its territorial entities, cannot do without the global trend to digitize activities. He said that the environment in which operate the services of the public and para-public sectors, finds in new technologies, levers for improvement and efficiency.

As for the sponsor, Minister Amadou COULIBALY, he said that the theme chosen fits perfectly with the vision of the President of the Republic, HEM. Alassane OUATTARA, to make digital transformation a powerful lever for economic growth in Côte d'Ivoire. He also invited all actors of the public and private sectors to appropriate this exhibition which is the answer to their concerns in research and in several areas of activity and research.

The opening ceremony was attended by several personalities including the Minister of Interior and Security, General Vagondo DIOMANDÉ, the Minister of Sports, Mr. DANHO Paulin, also President of the Union of Towns and Municipalities of Côte d'Ivoire (UVICOCI), Mrs. Jeanne PEUHMOND, Vice-President of the National Assembly, representing Mr. Adama BICTOGO, President of this institution, and the Mayor of the Commune of Cocody, Mr. Jean Marc YACÉ.

This exhibition initiated since 2012, was attended during this 6th edition by several African countries namely Burkina Faso, Chad, Benin, Niger and Djibouti.
