IVORIAN-CONGOLESE COOPERATION: STRENTGHENING OF COOPERATION BETWEEN ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY AND POINTE NOIRE PORT AUTHORITY.
In parallel to the official visit made by his Excellency Denis SASSOU-NGUESSO President of the Republic of Congo to Côte d’Ivoire from 12 to 15 ,June 2023, several cooperation agreements have been signed on Monday 12 June 2023 between Côte d’Ivoire and Congo.
The thirteen (13) agreements signed were aimed at reinforcing bilateral cooperation between the two states and cover several areas such as diplomacy, energy sector, agriculture, livestock production, fight against organized crime, modernization of the public administration, the merchant navy, the real estate sector, development of technical, scientific and technological cooperation for the promotion of small and medium-sized enterprises, handcraft and the leisure industry.
The maritime and Port industry, strategic center of economies did not stay on the sidelines of these agreements., Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) and Pointe-Noire Port Authority (PAPN) committed themselves through the signing of an agreement, to defining a frame for cooperation and exchange between the two port platforms in order to promote the development of trade between the two Countries.
Both Mr Hien Yacouba SIE and Seraphin BHALAT, respectively Managing Director of PAA and Managing Director of PAPN signed the agreement. The signing Ceremony took place at the Abidjan-Plateau President’s Palace in the presence of His Excellency Alassane OUATTARA, Head of State and his Congolese counterpart.
Note that Abidjan Port Authority, as part of its interport cooperation policy has already signed agreements with several ports among others, Douala Port Authority in Cameroon, the ports of Casablanca, Dakhala, Agadir, represented by The National Ports Authority of Morocco, Antwerp Port Authority in Belgium, and lately on 05 June 2023, with Guangzhou in China.
