MARITIME TRANSPORT: CÔTE D’IVOIRE ASSESSED WITH IALA, ITS NAVIGATION AIDS AND INSTRUMENTS
The International Association of Marine Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities (IALA) led a mission to assess the navigation aids of Côte- D’Ivoire from 10 to 14 July 2023.
In parallel to the mission led by Mrs DELANOYE Gerardine, Director in charge of Capacity Building and Resources of the International Academy, the officers of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) and those of San Pedro Port Authority as well as the officers of the General Directorate of Maritime and Port Affairs (DGAMP) and the Regional Academy of Marine Sciences and Techniques (ARSTM) received capacity building training on maritime risks.
During the restitution ceremony of this assessment mission on Friday 14 July at PAA’s Auditorium, Mrs DELANOYE Gerardine expressed her appreciation for the good working order of the navigation aids instruments in both the Ivorian Ports and for the important progress made since 2015 as well for the proven expertise of local technicians. It is the reason why, as the first person in charge of training in IALA, she recommended that Côte d’Ivoire become a regional center for excellence of navigation aids, and ARSTM become a training center certified by IALA.
Taking the floor, the Managing Director thanked IALA for its availability and expressed his appreciation for the quality teachings provided to the Ivorian technicians.
As regards the representative of the Ivorian Minister of Transports, Colonel Aya KOUAKOU, she expressed the gratitude of the Ivorian government to IALA for its involvement in the training of officers of the maritime and port industry in Côte- d’Ivoire.
Note that the International Association of Maritime Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities is a non- profit international organization established in 1957 by twenty countries in order to homogenize and improve the quality of maritime language system and meet the requirements of these navigation aids.
