ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY SET OUT TO DISCOVER TIANJIN PORT
TIANJIN PORT Second Container Terminal CO. Ltd, located in the North of China, welcomed, on 26 September 2023, the delegation of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) present in China as part of a working mission.
The Ivoirian delegation led by Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ Managing Director of PAA, was received by Mrs LIU Tong, Director for Digital Operations at the Port. The visit was an opportunity for the Port Authority to take ownership of technological solutions implemented by Huawei Group in this Chinese Port.
The Port of Tianjin City is located in the West part of Bohai Bay connecting East-Northern Asia to West-Central Asia. This Chinese Port which was established in 1860, handles 20 million Teus annually. That traffic volumes make it one of the ten biggest ports in the world?
The Team 5G + Smart Port was jointly established in 2020 by Tianjin Port, Huawei Group and China Mobile. The coalition has been established to take advantage of the benefits of 5G network in terms of ultra-wide bandwidth, ultra-low latency, extended network coverage and reliability.
Combined with new information and communication Technologies (ICT) such as Artificial Intelligence, cloud computing and IOT, Huawei launched creatively the solution of self-driving and level 4,5G remote control in order to improve the automation of terminals.
On account of this successful migration, Huawei Group decided to help a larger number of ports in order to upgrade automation permanently so as to create smart, green and secure Ports.
Let’s note that on completion of an extensive upgrading program of the Abidjan Port’s tool, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ aspires to use innovative technological solutions as part of Abidjan Port’s operations. According to him the concept of Smart Port constitutes an unprecedented challenge for the future of maritime trade.
