THE PORTS OF GABON "AT THE SCHOOL" OF THE ABIDJAN PORT
On a benchmarking mission in Côte d'Ivoire, a delegation from the Office des Ports et Rades du Gabon (OPRAG- board of ports and harbours of Gabon), led by the Secretary General, Mr. Gilbert Soler NDJOGO, visited the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) from 27 to 30 October 2023.
In accordance with its areas of interest, the delegation held a working session on Friday 27 October 2023 with the relevant Sectoral Directions to discuss issues relating to the management of Administrative, Legal and Claims Affairs; Property and Assets; Engineering and Project Management; Maritime Operations, Safety and the Environment; Control, Audit and Quality; and Communication.
At the end of their visit, the OPRAG representatives were received in audience by the Managing Director of the PAA, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, on Monday 30 October 2023.
He welcomed the initiative of the benchmarking mission, which reflects not only the cooperation and working links between the two port authorities, both members of the Ports Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA), but also the ties of friendship and fraternity between Côte d'Ivoire and Gabon.
Mr. Hien Yacouba SIE also emphasised the need to strengthen South-South cooperation, which highlights local and African know-how.
The Secretary General of OPRAG then thanked the Managing Director of the PAA for welcoming the delegation and providing them with the information they needed to carry out their work, before stating that their mission had been a success. He also conveyed the greetings of the Managing Director of OPRAG, who considers the Abidjan Port to be a benchmark in terms of the transformation and modernisation of its infrastructure, and indicated that the latter intends to pay a friendly working visit to Abidjan in the very near future.
