6th EDITION OF THE NATIONAL STATE-PRIVATE SECTOR PARTNERSHIP DAY : ABIDJAN PORT REAPED THE REWARD
Ending of the 6th edition of The National State-Private Sector partnership( JNP)which took place from 06 to 07 November 2023 at ¨ Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire de Cocody¨
Many public institutions and national private companies attended the gathering of exchange and sharing ,aimed at promoting public-private dialogue ,so as to agree on priorities to address in order to strengthen Cote d’Ivoire’s economic development .
The theme of the 2023 Edition was :¨ Corporate Social Responsibility ( RSC) for a United Cote d’Ivoire, which type of State-private Sector Partnership ?¨
During the opening ceremony on 06 November ,Mr Adama COULIBALY ,Minister of Finance and Budget representing the Prime Minister ,Head of Goverment Minister of Sport and Living Environment ,His Excellency Mr Robert Beugre MAMBE ,the Patron of the event ,stated that the government intends to increase his support to the private sector through the continuation of the dialogue
within the State-private sector concertation committee in view of its impact to an inclusive growth of the Ivorian economy .
Likewise, Dr Souleymane DIARRASSOUBA, Minister of Trade and Industry stated that the ceremony was an opportunity to allow further reflection on the quality of this dialogue in order to make a partial assessment, to reveal the major challenges in relation to the companies competitiveness and foster a synergistic vision with regard to national priorities.
According to him, the choice of the theme lies on the opportunity to promote synergy between the two parties-state and private sector-around corporate social responsibility as strategie levers for economic and social transformation.
The discussions within the panels gave the opportunity for several corporate executives to dwell on the need to promote the CSR practices which incorporate the most vulnerable populations in the business model.
On 07 November, the closing date of the 6th edition of JNP was marked by prize- awarding to public and private institutions and also to some officials who largely contributed to the strengthening of the state-private partnership or to those who took concrete initiatives in terms of implementation of the CSR policy.In total 08 prizes have been awarded.
Continuing on its current course ,Abidjan Port once more received an award.Thus, in view the strong implication of all the port platform’s stakeholders in the modernization of infrastructures and the very satisfying results recorded,the Port Monitoring Committee, a breaking up of the Abidjan Port Community ( CPA) received the Public Private Dialogue Prize for the sectoral joint framework.
Mr DIARRASSOUBA Tahirou ,President of the said Committee and Secretary General of CPA, representing the president of CPA ,Mr Hien Yacouba SIE, is the one who received the prize from the hands of Mrs ADE jose LEGRE representing the African Development Bank ( AFDB)
This additional prize is another recognition of the Port Authority for the effort made since 2011 in order to increase sustainably the performances and competitiveness of Abidjan Port ,an essential link of the transport chain ,a catalyst of the national economy.
It should be noted that the Abidjan Port Monitoring Committee was initially established by Mr Hien SIÉ upon the recommendation of Mr Amadou KONE Minister of Transport.The committee was initially meant for dealing with problems related to the marketing of cocoa which somewhat disrupted port operations during the 2016-2017 marketing compaign .
Later,the activities of the committe have been extended to the overall export operations of farm products shipped through Abidjan Port before incorporating import operations.
