OPENING UP THE PORT AREA: The Progress of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) projects presented to the Port Authority
A delegation of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) from the USA, headed by Mr. Zaidoon KHOURI, Director of Finance, Investment and Trade (FIT), paid a working visit to the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) on Monday 13 November 2023 to present a progress report on the projects launched to reduce congestion and improve traffic flow in the port area.
The MCC delegation came to present the progress of work on the car park of the Office Ivoirien des Chargeurs (OIC- Ivorian Shippers Council), as well as the next stages in the implementation of its various projects on the platform of the Abidjan Port.
Regarding the status of work on the OIC car park, the delegation indicated that all that remains to be done was to connect it to electricity and water before its commissioning, which was scheduled for the end of November 2023.
As for the resurfacing of the Boulevard du Port, the delegation made it clear that the work would only begin once the new OIC car park was operational. As a result, the project should be launched in December.
The Managing Director of PAA, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, responded to the MCC delegation by stressing the interest of the port authority in these projects, which have a proven impact on the activity and competitiveness of the Abidjan Port and on the national economy. He therefore called for their implementation to be accelerated within a framework agreed with all stakeholders.
