END OF TRAINING FOR THE 5th PAA PROMOTION FOR UNCTAD'S "Train for Trade" PROGRAMME

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has launched a training programme called "Train for Trade" as part of its drive for efficient and effective port management, with a view to increasing trade and fostering economic development.

The Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), which joined this programme in 2013, is now in its 5th year. The end of the training was marked by a ceremony to award certificates to the graduates on Thursday 29 February 2024, in the presence of the Managing Director, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ.

In her introductory speech, Mrs. MÉΪTÉ Salimata FOFANA, Director of Human Resources at  PAA, and local coordinator of the programme, began by paying tribute to the Managing Director for authorising the company's enrolment in this excellent training programme, which makes a significant contribution to staff capacity building. She then thanked  PAA's sector directors, the UNCTAD representatives and experts, and the entire Abidjan Port Community for their involvement in the success of this programme.

Mr. Dominique CHANTREL, Coordinator of the Francophone network, then expressed his satisfaction at the good progress made by the programme at  PAA. He congratulated the local coordinator and the teaching committee for their excellent work.

As for Dr. Titi PALÉ,  PAA's Commercial, Marketing and Communications Director, who is co-sponsoring this 5th promotion with Mr. Noumory SIDIBÉ, Director General of Côte d'Ivoire Énergie, she praised the fine performance of her godchildren, who have risen to the challenge with an overall average of 15.24/20. 

Following the series of speeches, the Managing Director of  PAA, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, handed over the certificates to the auditors for the good results obtained. He expressed his satisfaction and gave them some advice as well as those of the next promotion.

At the end of the ceremony, the president and spokesman for the 5th intake, Lieutenant DOGBEH L. Othniel, Maritime Traffic Controller, symbolically passed the torch to the 6th intake, which began its training that very day with the introductory module.  

It should be noted that the defences of the theses of the auditors of the outgoing promotion took place on 27 and 28 February 2024, at the PAA’s training centre, before juries composed of experts from various African ports, notably Cameroon, Guinea-Conakry, Mauritania, Togo, Senegal and Gabon.
