VISIT OF ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY BY A MISSION OF THE WORLD BANK.
As part of the Sustainable Ports Partnership project (SPP), the World Bank through the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa has committed itself to assist member ports of this association in dealing with environmental issue. For the first phase of the project, the Financial Institution selected three port authorities, namely Abidjan Port Authority, Ghana Ports Authorities and Cape Verde Port Authority (ENAPOR).
In this context, a delegation of Maritime & Transport Business Solutions (MTBS) led by Mr KOFFI Jean Marie Secretary General of PMAWCA, was received by Colonel COFFI Yao Emmanuel, Director of Maritime Operations, Security and Environment (DOMSE) on Thursday 21 March 2024.
The mission was aimed at bringing to light the initiatives of Abidjan Port Authority as to waste treatment, but also discussing environmental priorities such as quality of air, energy efficiency and coastal erosion.
Mr Torn BEVING, Manager of MTBS thanked the representatives of the Port Authority for the quality of exchanges, which enables to identify the efforts undertaken by PAA.
At the end of the meeting, the delegation visited the site of the collection and treatment of hazardous wastes in Abidjan Port Authority, located in Thomasset Village on the way to Adzopé.
