THE MINISTER FOR FOREIGN TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT COOPERATION OF THE NETHERLANDS VISITS THE ABIDJAN PORT
The Dutch Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, HEM. Liesje SCHREINE MACHER, visited the Abidjan Port on Thursday 23 May 2024, as part of an official visit to Côte d'Ivoire to strengthen cooperation between her country and Côte d'Ivoire.
Accompanied by a large delegation, including HEM. Jeroen KELDERHUIS, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Côte d'Ivoire, Mrs. Lara MULLER, Public Sector Director of the INVEST INTERNATIONAL Group, and a mission from the Port of Amsterdam, the Minister was able to discover the latest infrastructure developments at the Abidjan Port hub, including the second container terminal and the new grain terminal.
Following her visit to the port facilities, HEM. Liesje SCHREINEMACHER attended a presentation of the 2021-2040 Master Plan for the Abidjan Port in collaboration with the Port of Amsterdam.
The presentation was an opportunity for the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ and his counterpart from the Port of Amsterdam, Mr. Gert-Jan NIEUWENHUIZEN to pay tribute to the excellent level of cooperation between the ports of Côte d'Ivoire and the Netherlands.
Representing the Minister of Transport, Mr. Amadou KONÉ, Colonel Aya KOUAKOU, Technical Adviser for Maritime Affairs, thanked HEM. Liesje SCHREINEMACHER for the interest shown in the development of the Abidjan Port.
