RECOGNITION OF MERIT : The prize for economic and financial performance in the commercial sector presented to the PAA Management Committee

Following the receipt of the 2024 prize for economic and financial performance in the commercial sector, which the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) won on Wednesday 02 October 2024, at the 6th edition of the Prize for Excellence in Governance and Performance of Public Companies, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of the PAA, brought together the company's Management Committee on Thursday 03 October 2024 for an official presentation of that honorary distinction.

The meeting was an opportunity for the Managing Director of the PAA to express his sincere thanks to the members of the Management Committee for the good results obtained during the 2023 financial year, which have earned the recognition from the Ivorian Ministry of Assets, the State Portfolio and Public Companies.

According to Mr. Hien SIÉ, the award was a testimony to all the efforts made by the PAA, which was actively contributing to the development of the transport sector and, by extension, to the growth and health of the national economy. ‘All credit goes to you, and through you to the staff you manage (...) I urge you to work harder to improve this performance in the months and years to come’, he encouraged.

As a reminder, in 2023, the Abidjan Port maintained its leadership in the West African sub-region in terms of traffic volumes, with a total traffic of 34.7 million tonnes of goods, compared with 28.6 million tonnes in 2022, representing a growth of 21.1%.

Those figures correlate with another performance indicator that accompanies the good commercial results, namely the ratings awarded to the PAA by the financial rating agency Bloomfield Investment.

Indeed, the PAA was awarded ‘AA’ in the long-term and ‘A1’ in the short-term ratings with stable prospects for the period from September 2023 to August 2024. This is proof of the company's sound financial health.
