400-METER SHIP SOON TO DOCK AT ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY
Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) is preparing to achieve another milestone with the upcoming arrival of a 400-meter-long vessel—the largest ever to dock at its quays.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, during a meeting between the Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, and a delegation from Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), led by Captain Michele LAURO, Vice President and West Africa Director of MSC, accompanied by Mr. Cédric Goujon, Managing Director of MSC Côte d’Ivoire.
Mr. Hien SIÉ expressed appreciation for the trust MSC places in Abidjan Port Authority by assigning a vessel of such magnitude. He assured his guests that the Abidjan port platform has the optimal conditions required to accommodate this marine giant.
surely, thanks to major investments in recent years—including the deepening and widening of the Vridi Canal and the construction of a second Container Terminal—Abidjan Port Authority is now capable of hosting large-capacity vessels, further strengthening its position as a key hub on Africa’s Atlantic coast.
This meeting also provided an opportunity to review MSC’s activities and discuss prospects for strengthening the presence of one of the world’s leading maritime transport companies at Abidjan Port.
