THE ABIDJAN PORT: AN EMERGING HUB FOR CRUISE TOURISM

On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Silver Wind, an ultra-luxurious cruise ship flying the Bahamian flag, anchored at the Abidjan Port.

Measuring 162 meters in length and 21 meters in width, the Silver Wind arrived from the Port of Tema in Ghana, carrying 430 individuals on board, including 210 passengers and 180 crew members.

For the passengers, this stopover in Abidjan was an opportunity to explore the country's cultural richness through visits to the Museum of Civilizations of Côte d’Ivoire, the National Costume Museum in Grand-Bassam, the Bingerville Botanical Garden, Banco Forest, and the Abidjan City’s Artisan Center.

The arrival of this vessel represents a strategic step forward for the development of tourism in Côte d’Ivoire. With its vast cultural heritage, the country is attracting more and more visitors. Now equipped with a port capable of accommodating large cruise ships, Côte d’Ivoire positions itself as a preferred stopover for cruise operators in West Africa.

Commissioned in 1995, the Silver Wind is a luxury cruise vessel and part of the versatile fleet operated by American cruise line Silversea Cruises, recognized as a leader in the global luxury cruise market.

The company recently introduced the Evolution Class with the launch of the Silver Nova in 2023—an eco-friendly hybrid ship—followed by the Silver Ray in 2024. These ships are designed to offer a modern and sustainable cruise experience.

The Silver Wind’s next destination is the Port of Freetown, Liberia.
