ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY: STRENGTHENING COOPERATION WITH DUTCH PARTNERS
The Abidjan Port Authority welcomed, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, a delegation of Dutch economic operators active in the maritime and port sectors, as part of the strengthening of cooperation relations between Côte d’Ivoire and the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Led by Mr. Arthur KIBBELAAR, Head of Mission at the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the delegation was received by the Harbour Master, Colonel COFFI Emmanuel, Director of Maritime Operations, Security and Environment (DOMSE), surrounded by several port officials, including the Commercial, Marketing and Communication Director, Dr. Titi PALÉ épouse KOUMAN, and the Director of Economic Studies, Strategy and Planning, Mr. Jules KOUADIO.
The discussions focused on targeted areas of collaboration, particularly in fields such as port logistics, infrastructure modernization, and innovation in maritime services. On this occasion, a strategic study relating to the organization and optimization of logistics flows was presented, illustrating the quality of the technical partnership established with Dutch stakeholders. The study was officially handed over to the Port Authority by Mr. Marcel STAPPERS, Regional Director for Africa of the Port of Amsterdam.
This meeting provided Colonel COFFI Emmanuel with the opportunity to present the performance and ambitions of the Abidjan Port, while also consolidating constructive dialogue and identifying prospects for cooperation aligned with the priorities of the Abidjan Port Authority, which continues to strengthen its competitiveness and positioning as a major logistics hub in West Africa.
For its part, the Dutch delegation expressed its interest in developing sustainable partnerships with the Port Authority and commended the progress achieved by the Abidjan Port, as well as the dynamism of economic relations between both parties, reflected in trade volumes that have been increasing since 2021.
This visit, which enabled the delegation to discover the port facilities, was enriched by discussions highlighting promising complementarities between Dutch expertise and the growing needs of the Ivorian port sector.
