STRATEGIC COOPERATION: THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY AND THE EBRD EXPLORE PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The Acting Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, received in audience, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, a delegation from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), led by Ms. Asari Jane EFIONG, Country Director, and Ms. Lissa BA, Lead Banker.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the delegation to present the EBRD’s mandate and areas of intervention, following its recent establishment in Côte d’Ivoire, as well as the financial and technical support mechanisms made available to enterprises.

On this occasion, Ms. EFIONG indicated that the EBRD is willing to support the Abidjan Port Authority through financing solutions and technical assistance tailored to the short-, medium-, and long-term needs of its development and modernization projects.

Taking the floor, the Acting Managing Director of PAA reaffirmed his determination to strengthen strategic partnerships with leading international financial institutions capable of sustainably supporting the transformation and competitiveness of the Abidjan port platform.

The discussions made it possible to identify several areas of common interest that could benefit from such support, notably land-related issues, the development of freight transport by barges, the enhancement of logistics connectivity, as well as various structuring infrastructure and port logistics projects.

Through this cooperative approach, the Abidjan Port Authority intends to accelerate the implementation of its strategic projects, enhance the performance of its infrastructure, and further consolidate its position as a leading logistics and port hub in West Africa.
