THE CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND THE ACTING MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY OFFICIALLY INTRODUCED TO THE ABIDJAN PORT COMMUNITY

A few weeks after their respective appointments, Mr. Hilaire Marcel LAMIZANA, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abidjan Port Authority, and Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, Acting Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), were officially introduced to members of the Abidjan Port Community on Friday, May 22, 2026, during a ceremony held at the PAA Headquarters.

This institutional gathering brought together the main stakeholders of the Abidjan port platform, who came to express their support and reaffirm their commitment to assisting the new leadership in pursuing the ongoing transformation, modernization, and competitiveness of the Port of Abidjan.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Tahirou DIARRASSOUBA, Secretary General of the Abidjan Port Community, conveyed, on behalf of all port operators and partners, his warm congratulations to both the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Acting Managing Director. He also commended the appointment of two figures recognized for their experience and in-depth understanding of port-related challenges, while renewing the Port Community’s commitment to work in synergy with the General Management to strengthen the performance and influence of the Abidjan port platform.

In his address, the Acting Managing Director, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ, expressed his profound gratitude to His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, as well as to the Board of Directors of the Abidjan Port Authority, chaired by Mr. Hilaire LAMIZANA, for the confidence placed in him through this appointment.

He also paid tribute to his predecessor, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, currently Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance, whose leadership and the major reforms he initiated have significantly strengthened the modernization, influence, and competitiveness of the Port of Abidjan, now positioned as a major logistics hub in West Africa.

Committed to ensuring continuity and consolidating past achievements, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ reaffirmed his determination to pursue, together with all stakeholders of the logistics and port chain, the efforts undertaken to achieve the structural transformation of the Port of Abidjan, while injecting new momentum based on performance, innovation, and operational efficiency.

To this end, he outlined the key strategic priorities that will guide his action, notably strengthening dialogue with port stakeholders, continuously improving the fluidity and efficiency of port operations, accelerating the modernization and digitalization of procedures, and enhancing the attractiveness and competitiveness of the Port of Abidjan.

Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ also emphasized his ambition to build governance based on listening, shared responsibility, transparency, and the constant search for consensus-based solutions, in the interest of collective efficiency and the sustainable development of the Abidjan port platform.
