A JAPANESE DELEGATION ON A WORKING VISIT AT ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY

Mr. NGBALA, Deputy Managing Director granted an audience on Thursday 9th march 2017 to a Japanese delegation of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) led by its regional representative Mr. Shiraiwa. The visit which is a follow up of a process which has started a year earlier as part of the Abidjan Port’s transitional energy project is aimed at dealing with the technical aspects of the operation. The project which is meant for contributing to a sustainable development in the port estate aims not only at reducing fuel consumption but also at reducing carbon emissions.

 

The Port Authority showed interest for the project which is in compliance with its environmental policy. (MHI) Company on the other hand, is ready to undertake first a feasibility study in order to collect data, to assess the needs, the financial stakes and the energy benefits which would result from the project likewise the study will cover the investment and the types of technology needed for the project. According to the promoters, this ambitious project which has the support of the French and Japanese governments will facilitate on the medium term, the energy transition of Abidjan Port, but will also contribute to reflect the image of a modern Port committed to a healthy environment.
