THE MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT INQUIRES ABOUT CONGESTION DIFFICULTIES AT ABIDJAN PORT
Early in the morning on 4 April 2017, Mr Amadou KONÉ, Minister for Transport accompanied by Amede Koffi KOUAKOU, Minister for Economic Infrastructure and by Mr. Hien Yacaouba SIE, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority went on a tour of the port area in order to inquire about congestion problems and take short term remedial actions. The Minister in charge of Abidjan Port Authority visited three sites, namely the OIC Yard location, the construction yard of the new gate for road trucks for exports at the Vridi Container Terminal and the HINO parking lot. These sites will soon enable to help truck drivers who suffer from the lack of parking lot for cargo trucks. After the tour, the Minister for Transport took two important measures during the meeting which took place on the premises. What must be done is to speed up the completion works of the provisional parking lots for trucks and the implementation of the UEMOA regulation 14 which stipulates that all cargo carriers are under weighing obligation throughout all the UEMOA Area including Ghana and Guinea.
