WORKING SESSION BETWEEN ECOWAS’TASK FORCE COMMISSION AND ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY (PAA)
Task Force, an ECOWAS mission on visit in Cote d’Ivoire From 17 to 21 April 2017 led by Mr. Salou DJIBO, Chairman a former Head of state of the Republic of Niger, was received for a working session at the port on Wednesday 19 April 2017. In his welcome address, Mr Hien Yacouba SIE expressed the honor of PAA to receive this ad hoc consultative body of ECOWAS before giving the floor to the Head of the delegation who explained that the Task Force was aimed at pleading and making mediation for an effective and full enforcement of community laws. He also stated that they came to meet Abidjan Port Authority in order to discuss with operators of the Abidjan Port platform about subjects pertaining to difficulties encountered in the implementation of the scheme for liberalization of exchange of goods and people. Several other subjects have been discussed, namely the enforcement by Cote d’Ivoire of Regulation #14 of UEMOA, the difficulties encountered in the implementation of the Road Intertransit, the inability to harmonize regulatory procedures in ECOWAS, the lack of free movement and setting up in some member countries, the free flow of goods and people in the bonded area. The ECOWAS Task Force which is represented by a seven member team was established in November 2015. It was officially set up on 20 May 2016 by his Excellency Mr ROCH Marc Christian KABORE President of Burkina Faso.
