2025 PAN-AFRICAN MATHEMATICS OLYMPIAD: IVOIRIAN WINNERS PRESENTED TO THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE ABIDJAN PORT
In a warm and celebratory atmosphere, the young Ivorian mathematicians who won bronze medals at the prestigious 2025 Pan-African Mathematics Olympiad (PAMO) were introduced to Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of the Abidjan Port, on Monday, June 23, 2025.
The competition took place from June 10 to 18, 2025, in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana. Côte d’Ivoire proudly ranked third out of 21 participating countries, behind South Africa and Tunisia. The Ivorian team consisted of six students from 10th and 11th grade science classes (2nde and 1ère C), including three girls and three boys.
The trophy — a symbol of excellence and commitment to science — was presented by Professor Saliou TOURÉ, President of the Ivorian Mathematical Society (SMCI), accompanied by several members of the organization.
Mr. Hien SIÉ, patron of the SMCI, warmly congratulated the winners for their outstanding performance. He encouraged them to pursue excellence and continue to proudly represent Côte d’Ivoire on the international stage. Emphasizing the importance of education and innovation for the country’s development, he reaffirmed the Abidjan Port’s commitment to supporting educational initiatives, particularly those that promote STEM disciplines.
It is worth noting that the Abidjan Port has, for several years, been an official partner of the SMCI, notably through its support for the “Miss Mathematics” competition.
