ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY EVALUATES ITS SECURITY SYSTEM
Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), through its Directorate of Maritime Operations, Security and Environment (DOMSE), carried out on Thursday, October 24, 2024, the evaluation of its safety and security system in accordance with the recommendations of the ISPS Code through a full-scale exercise.
Carried out in real conditions, this simulation exercise made it possible to test the effectiveness of the PAA's Internal Operations Plan (POI), to test the capacity and responsiveness of the different actors, but also the coordination of the resources committed.
The scenario that described the poisoning of stocks during the refueling of a ship by malicious individuals is part of the implementation of preventive actions of the security plan of Abidjan Port and the requirements of security exercises and training included in the International Ship and Port Facility Security Code (ISPS), a standard with which Abidjan Port has complied since July 2004.
At the end of an operation effectively conducted by the intervening forces, the officials of the DGAMP, the exercise verification authority, expressed their satisfaction by presenting the organization and participation diplomas in the exercise to the PFSO of PAA and the PCO (Operations Command Post).
