ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY HONOURED AT THE 4TH EDITION OF SIETTA
After three days of meetings, the 4th edition of the international Cashew Processing Equipment and Technology Show (SIETTA) which took place under the theme “Contribution of the Cashew Industry to the Resilience of African Countries in the Face of the World Economic Challenges” came to an end Saturday 08th April 2023 at “the Palais de la culture” in Abidjan, Treichville in the presence of the Minister of Commerce , Industry and Promotion of SME ,Mr. Souleymane DIARASSOUBA, representing His Excellency Patrick ACHI, Head of Government.
During the closing ceremony, Abidjan Port Authority partner of this big world event of the cashew industry, received two awards including the special award for technical and financial partners and the special award for exhibitors.
Taking stock of the fourth (4th) edition Dr Adama COULIBALY, Director General of Cotton-Cashew Council and also Commissioner General of SIETTA, firstly thanked all the stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event. Then he indicated that SIETTA 2023 was attended by 11 countries, more than 13,000 participants (exhibitors and visitors) 16 sponsors and 07 technical and financial partners. The 2023 edition was also marked by various activities. These are the meeting of experts of the International Consultative Council of Cashew (CICC), the meeting of technical and financial experts of the cashew sector panels, B2B meetings as well as exhibitions of equipment and cashew by-products.
Mr. Souleymane DIARASSOUBA, Minister of Commerce , Industry and Promotion of SME expressed his appreciation of the event which has “gained maturity and notoriety” and seized the opportunity to pay tribute to the Ivorian producers, cashew organization as well as technical and financial partners before appealing for working together with development partners for the promotion of a true cashew processing industry .
During his address, the minister announced that Cameroun handed over the chairmanship of CICC to Côte d’Ivoire at the close of the 5th session of the Council of Ministers of member countries which was held on 06 April 2023.
The 5th edition of SIETTA will take place in GHANA.
Note that for some years now, cashew cultivation has become for Côte d’Ivoire a strategic sector owing to the high volume of production, which makes the country hold the rank of first producer and exporter of cashew nuts in the world. Abidjan Port handled over 800 thousand tons of cashew export.
