ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY IMPLEMENTS A REFORM FOR DOCK WORKERS IN COTE D’IVOIRE

About fifty heads of handling companies attended, on Wednesday 29 th March 2023 at the headquarters of Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), a consultation meeting initiated by Mr Hien Yacouba SIE, Managing Director and Chairman of the Abidjan Port Community (CPA)

In fact, within the framework of the revamping of the management of the dock workforce in accordance with the new regulations, Mr Hien SIE felt the need to discuss with the stevedoring companies, employers of dockworkers so as to speed up the implementation of the decree n°219-109 of 30 January 2019 issued by His Excellency Alassane OUATTARA, President of the Republic.

This decree which gives PAA the opportunity to grant to a commercial company the management of the dock workforce was central to the discussions of the stakeholders to the meeting, precisely regarding the future concession

It aims at defining the management and the practice of the profession of dockworkers, but also at improving their living and working conditions.
