THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY MEETS THE TOP MANAGEMENT OF THE CHINESE HUAWEI GROUP
The Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority (PAA), Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, led a working mission from the Abidjan Port Authority to the People's Republic of China, from 22 to 30 September 2023.
On the first leg of this mission, the delegation was received on 25 September 2023 by the Business Transport Director of the Huawei Group, Mr. Fangshuo DONG, at the Group's headquarters in the city of Shenzhen in the People's Republic of China.
During the meeting, discussions focused mainly on the digital transformation strategy of the PAA, through (industrial) Artificial Intelligence.
The multinational technology company, which mainly develops and manufactures communications equipment and consumer electronics, has proposed tailored solutions to the PAA aimed at making the Abidjan Port a "Smart Port".
The aim of these solutions is to improve the performance, management and security of the Abidjan Port platform, in order to consolidate its position as a hub port on Africa's Atlantic coast.
Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, visibly committed to the digital transformation of the Abidjan Port, called for collaboration between his institution and the Huawei group in the field of digital transformation, with priority given to the interconnection of the Abidjan Port with a view to improving its communication and surveillance system.
The head of the PAA also indicated that all the proposals put forward by the Huawei group would be studied, so that the institution for which he is responsible could seize the opportunities offered by intelligent technology in the activities of the Abidjan Port, particularly in the area of "ship reception."
The meeting ended with visits to the Ox Horn Campus, Huawei's new technology campus, and to the Huawei Group's showroom, where the latest technological and economic trends were presented. The meeting was followed by a visit to the port of Tianjin, which has the distinction of being a Smart port, using Artificial Intelligence in its port activities (ship reception, loading and unloading of ships).
It should be noted that the Huawei Group is a Chinese company founded in 1987. It provides solutions in the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) sector. Its products and solutions are deployed in more than 170 countries. This makes the group the world's largest manufacturer of telecommunications equipment.
