ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY RENEWED ITS COMMITMENT FOR THE PRESERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT.
On 28 to 29 March 2023 a working workshop on the establishment of an African forum for Green Port took place in Addis-Abeba, Ethiopia. Abidjan Port Authority was represented at this event by Mr ASSI Achy Magloire, Director of Control, Audit and Quality Management and by Mrs SILUE Aurore Deputy Director of Internal Control and Performance Management.
This framework of exchanges jointly organized by the Commission of African Union and GIZ Cooperation gathered several African Porto with the aim of mobilizing all the stakeholders of the maritime and Ports industry of the continent so as to put in place a collaborative framework between the African port players.
The meeting was the opportunity of the participants coming from several countries of the continent to write the draft Status, but also to analyse and review the related action plan.
This workshop very important and necessary for the preservation of the environment and a sustainable economic development was also attended by several sub-regional maritime and port associations including the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) represented by Mr. Jean Marie KOFFI, the Secretary General.
The players of the African maritime and port industry are considering several approaches in terms of the ecological an energy transition, sustainable ports or ports of the future, eco ports in order to preserve the environment and the climate.
‘’ Air, Energy, Climate change, noises, wastes, sediments water’’ are priority issues at the heart of the challenges of the establishment of the African forum of Green Ports which gives a glimmer of hope to our ports.
‘’A port considers development to position itself, but a green port surely ensures sustainable development."
