THE ABIDJAN PORT AUTHORITY TAKES PART IN THE 4th AFRICAN DIGITAL WEEK
The 4th African Digital Week (ADW) was held from 19 to 25 April 2024 at the Boulay Beach resort (BBr) in Abidjan, under the theme “4th Industrial Revolution: A Promise for Africa”.
The Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) took part in the event, which brought together a large community of experts from the digital and other business sectors.
As part of a process of digitalisation and dematerialisation of its businesses and services, the PAA's objective in taking part in this forum was to gain a better understanding of Industry 4.0, its potential for innovation, and the trends and prospects for digital technology in Africa.
The forum featured panels, round tables, workshops and other activities that addressed major issues in the sector, including marine cables, the regulation of artificial intelligence, 5G, cyber security and the development of digital skills, and much more.
ADW 2024 was also an opportunity to honour some thirty personalities who are making a significant contribution to the development of the information society in Côte d'Ivoire. In this respect, Mr. Macky SANGARÉ, Director of the Digital Information System at the PAA, received an award.
Through that distinction, professionals in the sector recognised Mr. SANGARE's actions in the overhaul of the port information system undertaken since 2014, in particular the process of dematerialising fishing terminal and maritime conference operations, the strengthening of the security of IT data exchanges with PAA stakeholders, as well as several other projects he is piloting.
On 18 December 2023, the PAA obtained ISO 27001:2022 certification, the international reference standard for the implementation and effective management of the Information Security Management System (ISMS).
The certificate reinforces the Port of Abidjan's competitiveness, the result of the governance strategy spearheaded by the Managing Director Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ. This governance is focused on improving what already exists, modernisation, innovation, increased performance, security and sustainability.
