ABIDJAN PORT RECEIVED A CONTAINER SHIP RUNNING ON NATUREL FUEL

Abidjan Port received for the first time,on Thursday 1st February,a container ship equipped with a propelling system operating with."Scandola" a CMACGM’s vessel,366m in length and 51.11m wide for a capacity of 14 800 TEUs.

  " Scandola" is deployed on West Africa Express (WAX) of CMA CGM ,directly connecting West Africa to China ,South-East Asia and India.

The berthing of this container ship running on natural gas is in compliance with the managerial vision of Mr Hien Yacouba SIE ,Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority.

In fact,besides the ambition to become a logistic hub in compliance with international standards along the Atlantic Coast of Africa,through the modernization of infrastructure,the Abidjan Port Authority is also committed to a sustainable management of environment approach which enabled the port to be ISO 14001/2015 environment compliant.

Note that the use of GNL is recommended by the International Maritime Organization IMO as afuel for ships in order to ensure energy transition in the maritime transport industry by significantly reducing polluting emissions.
