ABIDJAN PORT WELCOMES A PANAMAX CLINKER CARRIER OF MORE THAN 70.000 TONS
Since 2012, the Abidjan Port Authority, with the support of the government, carried out an extensive modernization program of Abidjan Port in order to make it a major hub on the West Atlantic Coast of Africa.
Estimated at a global Cost of more than 1,100 billion CFAF, the Abidjan Port's infrastructure development program enabled it to accomodate new generation vessels.
Thus, the second Container Terminal (TC2) commissioned on 02 December 2022 received big container ships of 360 metres in length.
On Wednesday 04 September 2024, The Abidjan Bulk Terminal recorded the berthing of CAPE KOURION, a Panamax ship of 232 metres long and 14 metres draught carrying more than 70 000 tons of clinker (an input for cement factories). The vessel was displayed on Saturday 07 September 2024 along the quay of the terminal in the presence of Colonel Emmanuel COFFI, Harbour Master of Abidjan Port, representing Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Managing Director of Abidjan Port Authority, of a delegation of SEA-INVEST, the concessionary led by Mr. Darius KONAN, General Administrator and Mr ESSAM Daoud, CEO of CulturA Group, the shipper.
This first call marks the beginning of the arrival of large capacity vessels at the of Bulk Terminal of Abidjan Port.
