ABIDJAN PORT WINS THREE NEW DISTINCTIONS
The Abidjan Port Authority (PAA) received three distinctions during the 8th edition of the African Ports Awards held on Thursday, October 21, 2024, at the Palm Camayenne Hotel during the gala dinner marking the conclusion of the 44th Council of the Port Management Association of West and Central Africa (PMAWCA) in Conakry, Guinea.
The awards received by Abidjan Port are as follows:
- Award for Best Import-Export Traffic Performance (Volume) 2023.
- Award for Best Container Traffic (TEU).
- Award for Best Transit Traffic (Sub-Regional Economic Integration).
These awards were accepted by Mr. N’DOLI Kouadio André, Director of Engineering and Project Management, representing Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority, at the 44th Council of PMAWCA.
These distinctions highlight the efforts undertaken by Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, with the support of government authorities, to position Abidjan Port as a principal hub on the African Atlantic Coast.
In 2023, Abidjan Port achieved a record-breaking cargo volume of 34.7 million tons, compared to 28.6 million tons the previous year, marking a 21.1% increase.
Container traffic also experiences a significant rise of 46%, increasing from 840,926 TEUs in 2022 to 1,230,000 TEUs in 2023.
The port authorities aim to reach the milestone of 2 million containers by 2027 so as to join the global Top 100 container ports ranking.
