Friday, January 23, 2026 will remain etched as a major date in the history of the Abidjan Port Authority. Indeed, the Managing Director of the Abidjan Port Authority, Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, was appointed Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance by the President of the Republic, H.E. Alassane OUATTARA.
This appointment crowns a remarkable professional career and a constant commitment to the development of port infrastructures.
Upon the announcement of this appointment, the staff of the Abidjan Port Authority and the entire Abidjan port community wished to pay a warm and solemn tribute to the man who, over the years, transformed the Abidjan Port into a major maritime hub on Africa’s Atlantic coast.
Gathered for the occasion on Monday, January 26, 2026, at the auditorium of the General Directorate of the Abidjan Port Authority, the company’s employees, through Mr. CHERIF Tiémoko, Director of Procurement and Inventory Management, paid tribute to a listening leader whose leadership significantly contributed to the modernization, performance and international influence of the Abidjan Port.
In an atmosphere filled with emotion and gratitude, he recalled the major achievements accomplished by Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, as well as the values of professionalism, cohesion and responsibility that he instilled in the entire workforce.
In conclusion, the staff, through their spokesperson, extended their most sincere congratulations to the newly appointed Minister, wishing him every success in the exercise of his new duties, convinced that he will continue to serve the nation with the same determination, integrity and sense of duty.
In a long-applauded speech, the Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance emphasized the significance of this appointment. He expressed his deep gratitude to the Head of State for the trust placed in him, to the members of the Abidjan port community and to the staff of the Abidjan Port Authority for their constant support in achieving the objectives of the Abidjan Port.
Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ also reviewed the major achievements accomplished under his leadership, notably the modernization of infrastructures, the strengthening of governance, the improvement of operational performance and the enhancement of human capital. He encouraged the staff to preserve these achievements and to continue the momentum of progress in a spirit of cohesion and excellence.
Addressing his new responsibilities at the Ministry of Infrastructure, he reaffirmed his determination to remain at the service of Côte d’Ivoire with the same commitment, pointing out that the experience gained at the port will provide a solid foundation for meeting future challenges.
This appointment to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance is perceived as a collective source of pride for the port institution, and also as the continuation of a commitment at the highest level of the State to the development of infrastructures, in the service of the country’s economic growth and social progress.
