BIDJAN PORT ABOUT TO WELCOME A 400-METER-LONG VESSEL
The Abidjan Port is about to experience a historic moment since its creation, with the upcoming arrival on April 28, 2025, of one of the world’s largest container ships.
The 400-meter-long maritime giant from MSC (Mediterranean Shipping Company), carrying 24,000 TEUs, will dock at the quays of the second Container Terminal (TC2), which is fully equipped—both nautically and operationally—for optimal handling of such vessels. This illustrates the high level of technical performance achieved by this new port infrastructure, which has been operational since November 2022.
The arrival of this exceptionally large container ship not only reflects the renewed trust of major global shipping companies in the Abidjan Port’s hosting capacity and infrastructure quality but, also confirms the port’s rise as a major maritime hub in West Africa.
It is worth noting that the arrival of this vessel at the Abidjan Port is the result of the policy led by the President of the Republic, H.E. Alassane OUATTARA, who, since taking office in 2011, has initiated a profound restructuring of the country’s infrastructure, including port facilities—most notably the construction of a second, ultra-modern container terminal that meets international maritime transport standards.
