Abidjan Port Authority, as a major player of the agricultural and fisheries chain in the country and also partner of this international event, ran an exhibition stand at this edition which dealt with “African Agriculture facing the challenge of internal and external shocks: which structural Innovations to improve the agricultural sectors and Sovereignty”. For ten days, the PAA’stand was visited by very high personalities, among whom Mrs Abdou TOURE, Chairman of the Board of Directors (CEO) of Abidjan Authority. His presence was a sign of the strong commitment of our institution to SARA.
SARA is a framework provided by the Ivorian government to create wealth through agriculture, livestock, fishing in Côte d’Ivoire. In only 6 editions, SARA established itself as the show per excellence for agriculture, animal, fisheries and forest resources in Sub saharian Africa.
During his address, the Prime Minister Patrick ACHI called for a more dynamic African agricultural sector ‘‘Africa is not destined simply to be a supplier of agricultural products. Yes, African Countries must produce, process and consume their wealth, and export them. It is the utmost imperative for African economies to succeed their transition into a more manufacturing economy’’ the Prime Minister indicated.
Moreover, he was delighted about the big mobilization which led to the outstanding success of the event. SARA 2023 gathered 400 000 visitors as against 360 000 visitors in 2019; 862 exhibitors as against 586 in 2019 and 403 billion CFAF of investment intentions as against 238 billion CFAF at the 5th edition.
Note that this colourful event recorded the Hackathon award ceremony (winners of the competion among start-up companies around issues related to African agriculture); the distinction of stakeholders in the agricultural community and officials operating in the agriculture fishery and forest industry; the delivery of symbolic checks to agricultural project funding recipients.
Truly this SARA 2023 with the diversity of exhibition and the quality of fruitful exchanges during the panels, highlighted the major prospects of an environment friendly modern, innovative and productive African agriculture in order to meet the international standards.
